Condenser
The outdoor half of an AC or heat pump, the cabinet with the fan and coil that releases the heat collected from inside your home (or, for a heat pump in winter, collects heat from outdoor air).
Why it matters for your home
The condenser needs breathing room to work: cottonwood fluff, grass clippings, and shrubs planted tight against it force the system to run harder and hotter. Keeping two feet of clearance and rinsing the coil gently each spring is free efficiency, and one of the few maintenance items that's genuinely DIY.
