Air handler

The indoor unit that moves air through your ducts, blower, coil, and controls in one cabinet. In all-electric homes it takes the furnace's place, pairing with a heat pump or AC and often housing electric backup heat strips.

Why it matters for your home

If your home heats with a heat pump instead of gas, the air handler is your 'furnace.' Its blower quality sets your airflow, noise, and humidity control, and its heat strips are the backup that covers Missouri cold snaps, sized right, they run rarely; sized wrong, they quietly inflate winter electric bills.
